The short version

Use Paletter to build great things. Don't abuse it. Colors aren't copyrightable, so palettes you generate are yours to use commercially. If you subscribe to Pro, pay on time and we'll keep the lights on.

Using Paletter

Paletter provides color palette generation, image extraction, and design system export tools. You may use these tools for personal and commercial projects.

  • Generated palettes and exported files (CSS, Tailwind, tokens, etc.) are yours. Use them however you want.
  • Colors cannot be copyrighted. Your palettes belong to you.
  • Don't scrape, bot, or abuse the service. Fair use only.
  • Don't resell Paletter's output as a competing palette generation service.

Free tier

  • The free tier is genuinely free. No credit card required. No time limit.
  • Free features may change over time as we add new capabilities.
  • We reserve the right to rate-limit excessive automated usage.

Pro subscriptions

  • Pro subscriptions are billed monthly (£4/month) or yearly (£36/year).
  • You can cancel anytime. Access continues until the end of your billing period.
  • No refunds for partial months/years, but we're reasonable — email us if something's wrong.
  • Payment is processed by Stripe. Their terms apply to payment handling.

Uploaded images

  • Images you upload for palette extraction are processed in memory and not stored.
  • We don't use your images for training, marketing, or any purpose other than generating your palette.
  • Don't upload images you don't have rights to. We're not liable for copyright issues with your uploads.

Inspiration library

The inspiration palette library contains palettes derived from published book covers. These are presented for educational and reference purposes. Color values are factual data and not subject to copyright. Book titles and author names are used for attribution.

Availability

We aim for high availability but don't guarantee 100% uptime. We're a small team building something good. If the service goes down, we'll fix it as fast as we can.

Liability

Paletter is provided "as is". We do our best to ensure accuracy (especially WCAG contrast calculations), but we're not liable for design decisions made based on our tools. Always verify accessibility compliance independently for production use.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
